THE IMPACT WORKCOVER APPROACH

Fast, Specialist Imaging When You Need It

At IMPACT Radiology, we understand that a workplace injury can affect more than your health. It can affect your work, recovery and everyday life.

Our WorkCover imaging service provides prompt access to specialist medical imaging, rapid diagnosis and clear communication, helping your treating team make timely decisions about treatment and return to work.

WorkCover and compensation-related patients are managed through the IMPACT Enhanced Radiological Diagnostic and Management Pathway, providing additional clinical oversight and support beyond routine diagnostic imaging.

Priority Appointments

We prioritise patients with workplace injuries and can provide early or same-day appointments where clinically appropriate. Multiple scans or image-guided procedures may also be coordinated during the same visit when appropriate.

This is particularly valuable when an injury requires prompt assessment so treatment and rehabilitation are not unnecessarily delayed.

Same-Day Radiologist Reporting

WorkCover examinations performed through our enhanced pathway receive same-day radiologist reporting, helping your doctor, insurer and treatment team make decisions sooner and supporting timely return-to-work planning.

Direct Radiologist Involvement

At IMPACT Radiology, your imaging is more than simply acquiring pictures.

Where appropriate, our radiologist can review significant findings during your visit and discuss the imaging findings with you. If the sonographer or radiographer identifies an important abnormality during your examination, this can be escalated directly to the radiologist for review.

Imaging That Looks at the Whole Injury

Workplace injuries are not always straightforward. Determining whether an abnormality is new, pre-existing, healing or progressing may require careful comparison with previous imaging.

Where relevant, our radiologists can:

  • compare your examination with previous imaging;
  • assess whether findings appear acute, subacute or chronic;
  • monitor healing or deterioration on follow-up imaging;
  • recommend appropriate further imaging or follow-up; and
  • provide additional documentation where required for your WorkCover claim.

Clear Support From Referral to Recovery

Practical information for urgent assessment, insurer approval and preparing for your appointment.

Urgent and Significant Injuries

If an urgent or potentially serious abnormality is identified, our radiologists can communicate directly with your referring practitioner. For urgent or life-threatening findings, the pathway also provides for direct liaison with the Emergency Department at Launceston General Hospital where required.

WorkCover Billing

IMPACT Radiology can direct bill an insurer for approved WorkCover services.

Before an insurer-funded appointment can proceed, we require formal approval from the insurer for the quoted service and fee. Our team can assist with the administrative process and communication required for pre-approval.

Our WorkCover fees reflect the additional clinical, reporting, administrative and medico-legal requirements associated with compensation-related imaging. Fees are quoted before the service, providing transparency before your appointment.

Where insurer approval has not been obtained, direct billing may not be available and the patient or referring party may be responsible for payment.

What Should I Bring?

For your WorkCover appointment, please provide your referral and any available WorkCover or insurer information, including your claim details and insurer contact information. If you have relevant previous imaging performed elsewhere, please let our team know when booking so that we can arrange access where possible.
